Tjarda is a true pioneer of Tribal Fusion Bellydance in The Netherlands and is often referred to as Holland's greatest talent. She's a powerful dancer with a broad-minded curiosity towards bellydance and well-known for her innovative choreographies. She is the director of award-winning troupe The Uzumé Dance Company and already received several grants to expand her knowledge or to develop new projects. Tjarda is a widely recognized teacher and performer and well sought after throughout Europe and the USA. She has studied many genres of dance. Ranging from modern dance, flamenco and tango to dance therapy and improvised movement. Fusing all of the above with her natural creativity, Tjarda delivers progressive choreography resonating within the world wide culture of movement.
Tjarda is the Artistic Director of The - innovative and charismatic - Uzumé Dance Company since 2005 and founded a second troupe The Amano Project in 2010. Her work is highly appreciated by renowned pioneers in the Tribal Fusion genre. Tjarda is Suhaila & Jamila level 1 certified and still studies intensively at UNMATA’s Hot Pot Studios under the direction of Amy Sigil. She is now the first to teach this fusion improvisation style in Holland. Tjarda performs solo, with The Uzumé, The Amano Project or as an honorary member in UNMATA throughout Europe and the USA. Blurring lines and drawing inspiration from even the most unlikely sources, Tjarda is a choreographic force in today's Tribal Fusion Scene.
